First Year Modern Studies

1.4 and 1.6 have been studying the pros and cons of using the internet for gathering information and the steps they must take to remain safe when using the internet in general.

Later in the week, pupils looked at the difference between rules and laws.  We referred to the school rules and recent laws such as the use of car booster seats for children.

First Year History

1.2, 1.3 and 1.5 have been studying the Transatlantic Slave Trade recently.  This week they looked at the slave auctions, taking part in a short role play activity.  Afterwards pupils discussed how they would feel if they had been directly involved in the slave auctions, as slaves.  Many pupils said they would feel anxious and upset if they were separated from their family.
